Where this happens
Actuated valves run filtration switching, backwash sequences, dosing skids, remote isolation, and package plants — anywhere the plant control system operates the valve instead of a person. The actuator, its accessories, and the valve are one working unit.
How it goes wrong
The common mistake is picking the actuator to match the valve size and treating everything else as add-ons. Actuator sizing is a torque question: the actuator has to break the valve free and drive it closed against seating and differential-pressure torque, with margin — one that "fits" the DN but lacks torque stalls part-closed. The rest is just as decisive: the fail-position (open, close, or stay-put on power loss) is a process-safety choice, the duty cycle sets whether the actuator overheats under frequent cycling, and the enclosure rating decides whether water or dust kills it on a wet plant. Quoting the valve and actuator separately is how these get missed.
