Actuated Valve Package Review Before Ordering
Review the valve actuator mounting controls accessories environment documents testing and responsibility as one operating package before ordering.
Use this when
Use this when electric or pneumatic actuation is required, or when the buyer needs valve body, actuator, accessories, documents, and spare items supplied as one package.
Decision route
Place the requirement first, then compare offers.
Risks to avoid
These points often change material, test scope, delivery, or cost.
Review focus
Keep the review tied to the actual order, not a generic product name.
Treat it as one functional package
An actuated valve package is not complete when a valve and actuator merely share a mounting interface. Confirm valve duty and torque, actuator sizing basis, operating time, power or air supply, control signal, fail action, enclosure and ambient conditions, bracket and coupling, accessories, local controls, testing, documents, spares, and package responsibility. One supplier should confirm the assembled package and its interfaces.
Packages covered by this review
Applies
- Electric pneumatic or hydraulic on-off packages
- Modulating packages where the valve and actuator are supplied together
- Replacement actuator or complete assembly review
Does not decide
- Control-loop tuning and process authority
- Safety instrumented function suitability without its lifecycle evidence
- Site electrical or instrument design
Inputs required before sizing and quotation
- Valve type size class trim and duty
- Maximum differential pressure and torque basis
- On-off or modulating cycle duty
- Required operating time and fail position
- Power voltage frequency or air supply
- Input output protocol and local controls
- Ambient temperature enclosure corrosion and hazardous area
- Mounting orientation accessories documents tests and spares
Interface review path
| Interface | Package check | Approval evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Valve to actuator | Seating unseating running and safety-factor torque | Manufacturer sizing sheet |
| Actuator to plant utility | Voltage frequency air pressure consumption and duty cycle | Approved utility and load schedule |
| Controls to plant system | Signals protocol feedback interlocks and local controls | Approved I/O and control narrative |
| Assembly to environment | Enclosure temperature corrosion hazardous area and mounting | Certificates and project area classification |
Separate plant interfaces from package performance
Plant and control system
- Power or air quality and availability
- Command feedback interlocks and shutdown logic
- Cable air-line access environment and maintenance
Supplied package
- Valve torque and operating characteristic
- Actuator gearing controls accessories and enclosure
- Bracket coupling stops wiring tubing and test evidence
Common package mistakes
- Sizing from nominal torque without the stated differential pressure
- Omitting fail action and operating time
- Treating mounting compatibility as functional compatibility
- Splitting valve actuator and accessory responsibility without an interface owner
- Ordering before signals environment and certificates are fixed
Public configuration guidance and package approval
Public product information can identify available actuator families and configuration questions. It cannot size or approve the assembled package. The valve and actuator manufacturers or package supplier must confirm torque interfaces and performance; the project authority must approve utilities control logic area classification certificates and acceptance testing.
Publicly usable
- Package boundary checklist
- Configuration and interface questions
Approval required
- Actuator sizing and assembled performance
- Control and utility interfaces
- Hazardous-area and project acceptance
